“Hey there, fellow Nigerian scholarship student, and fellow final year student! So, we’ve reached our final year at university, and I understand the mix of emotions that come with it. Excitement, anxiety, and nostalgia all rolled into one.

I am right here with us, and I know how important it is to make the most of this crucial year, having interacted and helped a lot of graduating students find their foot after university. Let’s dive into some tips on how to prepare for our final year and make it a memorable and successful one.

  1. Reflect on Our Journey

Before we dive into the whirlwind of our final year, let’s take a moment to reflect on our journey so far. Remember the challenges we’ve overcome, the friendships we’ve made, and the lessons we’ve learned. This reflection can serve as a source of motivation and remind us of the incredible resilience we possess.

  1. Set Clear Goals for the Year

As fellow final year students, we should start by setting clear academic and personal goals for this pivotal year. What do we want to achieve academically? Are there research projects or internships we want to pursue? Setting goals will give our year direction and purpose.

  1. Create a Study Schedule

Time management is key in our final year. Let’s create a study schedule that allows us to balance our coursework, research, and personal life. Be realistic about our capabilities and allocate time for self-care and relaxation as well.

  1. Seek Guidance

Don’t hesitate to reach out to professors, academic advisors, or seniors for guidance. They can provide valuable insights into course selection, career planning, and navigating the challenges of the final year.

  1. Network, Network, Network

This final year is the perfect time to expand our professional network. Attend conferences, workshops, and networking events related to our field of study. Networking can open up job opportunities and provide a support system as we transition into our post-graduate life.

You want to start early with networking so that you do not waste time after you are done from university.

  1. Polish Our Resume

It’s never too early to work on our resumes. Let’s highlight our accomplishments, skills, and any relevant experiences we’ve gained during our time in Russia. A well-crafted resume will be invaluable when we start applying for jobs or further studies.

  1. Plan for Post-Graduation

We can begin planning for life after graduation even from now. Research potential job opportunities or postgraduate programs, and prepare the necessary application materials. Stay informed about visa regulations and work permits if you plan to stay in Russia or move elsewhere.

  1. Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

As final year students, we often find ourselves juggling numerous responsibilities, from rigorous academic demands to extracurricular activities and future career plans. In the midst of all this, it’s easy to neglect our health. However, we must remember that a healthy body and mind are the cornerstones of our success. Let us eat well, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep.

  1. Save Money

Our final year might bring unexpected expenses, such as graduation fees or relocation costs. Start saving money now to ensure you’re financially prepared for these challenges.

  1. Join Our Support Group

As a fellow final year student, I understand the unique challenges we face, and that’s why I’ve been actively involved in creating a support group exclusively for final year Nigerian scholarship students in Russia, including myself.

This group is designed to help us all navigate the transition to postgraduate studies, career opportunities, and even starting our own businesses. It’s a platform where we can connect with fellow students, share experiences, and gain valuable insights. Together, we can support and uplift each other as we take these important steps into the future.

In conclusion, our final year in university is a time of transition and growth. Let’s embrace it with enthusiasm and determination, supporting each other every step of the way.

We’ve come a long way, and there’s no doubt that our futures are bright. So, to my fellow final year students, let’s make this final year one to remember and ensure a successful path ahead with the help of our dedicated support group!”
